Trenul Orient Express a stabilit leg\u0103tura \u00eentre Paris \u015fi Constantinopol, respectiv \u00eentre Occident \u015fi Orient \u015fi a fost, f\u0103r\u0103 \u00eendoial\u0103, cel mai celebru \u015fi cel mai romantic dintre toate trenurile.<\/p>\n

\u201eAst\u0103zi, la orele 5 f\u0103r\u0103 5 minute, a sosit \u00een Gara T\u00e2rgovi\u015ftei, cu o \u00eent\u00e2rziere de 10 minute, primul tren Fulger (Orient Express). Orient Express-ul se compune dintr-o ma\u015fin\u0103, un vagon de bagaje, un vagon restaurant, un vagon cu paturi, un vagon francez de po\u015ft\u0103 \u015fi vagonul conductorului. Personalul trenului era de na\u0163ionalit\u0103\u0163i diferite.\u201c (Ziarul \u201eRom\u00e2nul\u201c, 27 – 28 mai\/8 – 9 iunie 1883)
\nTrenul Orient Express a stabilit leg\u0103tura \u00eentre Paris \u015fi Constantinopol, respectiv \u00eentre Occident \u015fi Orient \u015fi a fost, f\u0103r\u0103 \u00eendoial\u0103, cel mai celebru \u015fi cel mai romantic dintre toate trenurile. De\u015fi el apar\u0163ine, ast\u0103zi, doar turismului nostalgic \u2013 prin trenurile \u201eNostalgie Istanbul \u2013 Orient Express\u201c (N.I.O.E.) \u015fi \u201eVenice Simplon \u2013 Orient Express\u201c (V.S.O.E.), care au circulat \u015fi continu\u0103 s\u0103 circule, inclusiv prin Rom\u00e2nia \u2013 ecourile sale nu s-au stins \u00eenc\u0103. Scriitori, muzicieni, pictori \u015fi cinea\u015fti s-au inspirat din istoria acestui tren faimos \u015fi au contribuit la crearea legendei sale.
\nAcest tren a fost introdus \u00een circula\u0163ie la 5 iunie 1883, sub denumirea de Le Train d\u2019Orient sau Express d\u2019Orient, iar primul s\u0103u traseu, Paris (Gara de Est) \u2013 Nancy \u2013 Strasbourg \u2013 Stuttgart \u2013 M\u00fcnchen \u2013 Salzburg \u2013 Viena \u2013 Bratislava \u2013 Budapesta \u2013 Jimbolia \u2013 Timi\u015foara \u2013 Caransebe\u015f \u2013 V\u00e2rciorova \u2013 Craiova \u2013 Pite\u015fti \u2013 Bucure\u015fti \u2013 Giurgiu \u2013 Sm\u00e2rda, pe o distan\u0163\u0103 de 2.638 km, a fost efectuat \u00een 59 de ore \u015fi 15 minute. De la Giurgiu, primul tren Orient Express a plecat spre Paris la 8 iunie 1883 la orele 13:30, ajung\u00e2nd \u00een capital\u0103 la orele 15:00 \u015fi, dup\u0103 o sta\u0163ionare de
\n15 minute, a pornit, din nou, spre Paris. Cu ocazia acestui eveniment, serviciul po\u015ftal \u015fi telegrafic din Giurgiu \u015fi-a salutat colegii de bran\u015f\u0103 parizieni printr-o telegram\u0103 cu urm\u0103torul text, \u00een limba latin\u0103: \u201eSequanam Danubius amice salutat.\u201c (\u201eDanubius salut\u0103 amical Sena\u201c). La salutul giurgiuvenilor, serviciul po\u015ftalo-telegrafic din Paris a r\u0103spuns, prompt, tot \u00een limba latin\u0103: \u201eGratae Danubii fratris salutationi respondet Sequana soror.\u201c (\u201eSora Sena r\u0103spunde cu mul\u0163umiri la salutul fratelui Danubius\u201c).
\nInaugurarea oficial\u0103 a trenului Orient Express a avut loc la 4 octombrie 1883 \u015fi, cu acest prilej, au fost introduse \u00een compunerea sa vagoane de dormit pe boghiuri, primele de acest fel din Europa. Noile vagoane ale trenului Orient Express erau pe 4 osii, m\u0103surau 17,5 metri, erau construite din lemn de tec \u015fi aveau geamuri din cristal. \u00cenc\u0103lzite cu abur \u015fi iluminate cu gaz, acestea erau \u201etot a\u015fa de confortabile ca un apartament bogat la Paris\u201c. \u00centre dou\u0103 vagoane de bagaje pe dou\u0103 osii erau dispuse dou\u0103 vagoane de dormit pe patru osii, fiecare cu o capacitate de 20 de locuri, precum \u015fi un vagon-restaurant pe patru osii. Vagonul-restaurant (CIWL 151D) era \u00eembr\u0103cat cu tapiserii din faimoasele ateliere Gobelins, cu piele de Cordoba \u015fi catifea genovez\u0103 \u015fi era compus dintr-un salon mare, un salon pentru fumat cu bibliotec\u0103, un budoar, un oficiu \u015fi o buc\u0103t\u0103rie.
\nLa invita\u0163ia regelui Carol I, de a vizita noua sa re\u015fedin\u0163\u0103 de var\u0103, Castelul Pele\u015f din Sinaia, trenul Orient Express, cu 40 de oficialit\u0103\u0163i europene marcante la bord, a circulat la 7 octombrie 1883 \u015fi pe ruta Bucure\u015fti \u2013 Ploie\u015fti \u2013 Sinaia \u015fi retur.
\n\u00cencep\u00e2nd de la 1 iunie 1889, un al doilea tren Orient Express a legat direct ora\u015fele Paris \u015fi Constantinopol, pe o nou\u0103 rut\u0103 prin Serbia \u015fi Bulgaria, traseul de 2.504 km fiind efectuat \u00een 67 de ore \u015fi 35 de\u00a0 minute.
\nDup\u0103 darea \u00een exploatare, \u00een 1895, a podurilor dun\u0103rene, ramura prin Rom\u00e2nia a trenului Orient Express a fost prelungit\u0103, la 19 aprilie\/1 mai 1896, p\u00e2n\u0103 la Constan\u0163a Port.
\n\u00cen timpul Primului R\u0103zboi Mondial, trenurile de lux europene, inclusiv trenul Orient Express, au fost anulate. Dup\u0103 \u00eencetarea ostilit\u0103\u0163ilor, a fost reintrodus \u00een circula\u0163ie, la 15 aprilie 1919, un nou tren interna\u0163ional de lux, denumit Simplon \u2013 Orient Express, care lega Londra \u015fi Parisul de Constantinopol. La 1 mai 1921, leg\u0103tura prin Rom\u00e2nia a trenului Orient-Express a fost repus\u0103 \u00een circula\u0163ie p\u00e2n\u0103 la Bucure\u015fti, prin Arad, Teiu\u015f, Bra\u015fov \u015fi Sinaia.
\nUltimul tren Orient Express al companiei C.I.W.L.T. a plecat din Paris spre Istanbul la 19 mai 1977 pe ruta Paris \u2013 Milano \u2013 Vene\u0163ia \u2013 Zagreb \u2013 Belgrad \u2013 Sofia \u2013 Istanbul (Sirkeci), \u00eentreaga distan\u0163\u0103 fiind parcurs\u0103 \u00een aproximativ 56 de ore.
\nIlustr\u00e2nd o apreciat\u0103 tematic\u0103 de colec\u0163ie, Romfilatelia pune \u00een circula\u0163ie emisiunea de m\u0103rci po\u015ftale intitulat\u0103 \u201eOrient Express\u201c, realizat\u0103 \u00een comun cu Austria, pentru a marca rela\u0163iile culturale deosebite, statornicite de-a lungul vremii, \u00eentre Bucure\u015fti \u015fi Viena.
\nTimbrul cu valoarea nominal\u0103 de 4,70 Lei reprezint\u0103 trenul Orient Express \u00een luna mai 1921, \u00een sta\u0163ia Sinaia. Este remorcat de o locomotiv\u0103 Pacific, tip 2C1-h4, care apar\u0163inea depoului Bucure\u015fti C\u0103l\u0103tori \u015fi care era utilizat\u0103 pe traseul Bucure\u015fti Nord \u2013 Ploie\u015fti \u2013 Sinaia \u2013 Bra\u015fov \u015fi retur.
\nTimbrul cu valoarea nominal\u0103 de 2,40 Lei reprezint\u0103 trenul Orient Express \u00een 1909, \u00een sta\u0163ia Salzburg, av\u00e2nd \u00een componen\u0163a sa un vagon restaurant-salon pe 4 osii, remorcat de o locomotiv\u0103 Compound, tip 2B-n2v, din seria austriac\u0103 K.k.St.B. 206.01-206.70, ce apar\u0163inea depoului Wien II \u015fi care era utilizat\u0103 la remorcarea trenului Orient Express pe ruta Salzburg \u2013 Viena \u015fi retur.<\/p>\n
