\nAventura tehnic\u00e3 feroviar\u00e3 care va schimba radical via\u0163a locuitorilor planetei a \u00eenceput \u00een 1803 c\u00e2nd inginerul galez Richard Trevithick (1771-1833) a construit, la forjele din Coalbrookdale, prima locomotiv\u00e3 cu abur industrial\u00e3 din lume (\u201eTram-Engine\u201c). Nu dup\u00e3 mult timp, cel care \u015fi-a \u00eenscris numele nemuritor \u00een istoria locomotivei cu abur (\u201eFather of the Locomotive Engine\u201c) \u015fi a c\u00e3ilor ferate mondiale a fost englezul George Stephenson (1781-1848), care timp de peste 10 ani, \u00een perioada 1814-1825, a fost principalul constructor de locomotive, contribuind substan\u0163ial la perfec\u0163ionarea lor.
\n\u00cen anul 1823, la Newcastle upon Tyne, a fost \u00eenfiin\u0163at\u00e3 de c\u00e3tre George Stephenson, fiul s\u00e3u Robert, Edward Pease \u015fi Michael Longridge, firma \u201eRobert Stephenson & Company\u201c, prima fabric\u00e3 de locomotive din lume. Primele comenzi, primite \u00een 1824, au venit din partea minelor Hetton \u015fi a companiei feroviare Stockton & Darlington Railway (\u201eLocomotion No.1\u201c, \u201eHope\u201c, \u201eDiligence\u201d \u015fi \u201eBlack Diamond\u201c).

Era o locomotiv\u00e3 pentru trenuri mixte, cu diametrul ro\u0163ilor motoare \u015fi cuplare de 1.425 mm \u015fi o vitez\u00e3 maxim\u00e3 de circula\u0163ie de 70 km\/h.
\nTimbrul cu valoarea nominal\u00e3 de 3,00 lei ilustreaz\u00e3 locomotiva CFR 28 \u201eCod\u00e3e\u015fti\u201c tip 2B-n2 Hart.-1887, care a f\u00e3cut partedin seria CFR 28-33 (6 unit\u00e3\u0163i), livrat\u00e3 \u00een anul 1887 de fabrica german\u00e3 de locomotive \u201eMaschinenfabrik Richard Hartmann, Chemnitz\u201c. A fost o locomotiv\u00e3 pentru trenuri exprese, fiind utilizat\u00e3, \u00een perioada 1887-1905, la remorcarea trenurilor \u201eOrient Express\u201c pe traseul V\u00e2rciorova – Turnu Severin – Balota – Pite\u015fti – Bucure\u015fti Nord (382 km). Avea diametrul ro\u0163ilor motoare \u015fi cuplare de 1.906 mm \u015fi o vitez\u00e3 maxim\u00e3 de circula\u0163ie de 115 km\/h, fiind primul tip de locomotive din parcul CFR echipat cu un boghiu \u00eenainta\u015f. P\u00e2n\u00e3 la introducerea, \u00een 1913, a primelor locomotive PACIFIC (seria CFR 2201-2240, tip 2C1-h4), au fost cele mai rapide locomotive de pe re\u0163eaua CFR.

Ernesto Breda & Co.-Stabilimento Meccanico, Milano\u201c. Aveau – \u00eempreun\u00e3 cu tenderul pe 3 osii – o greutate \u00een serviciu de 100 tf. (tone-for\u0163\u00e3) \u015fi pentru a putea circula, au fost verificate, \u00eent\u00e3rite \u015fi testate toate podurile de cale ferat\u00e3 de pe liniile principale. Imaginea de pe coli\u0163\u00e3 prezint\u00e3 chiar testarea unui pod, dup\u00e3 refacere, cu dou\u00e3 locomotive ce \u00eensumau 200 tf. Au fost locomotive-compound cu patru cilindri pentru trenuri exprese, av\u00e2nd diametrul ro\u0163ilor motoare \u015fi cuplare de 1.665 mm \u015fi o vitez\u00e3 maxim\u00e3 de circula\u0163ie de 113 km\/h, fiind repartizate depourilor Bucure\u015fti C\u00e3l\u00e3tori, Ia\u015fi \u015fi Ploie\u015fti.<\/p>\n
