The banknote of Lei 200 is mainly of orange colour printed on polymer substrate in mixed plane and relief technique.
On the obverse of the banknote can be found the following representative graphic elements: the portrait of Lucian Blaga, his lifetime (1895-1961), the poet’s signature, a floral element consisting of poppy flowers and an open book, displaying the page with the poems “Self-Portrait” and “May 9th, 1895”. On the obverse of the banknote are also printed horizontally: the face value, in figures and numbers “200 LEI DOUÃ SUTE”, the signatures of the Governer and of the Chief Cashier, Romania’s emblem, the name of the issuing central bank BANCA NAÞIONALÃ A ROMÂNIEI, a medallion with the NBR’s logo, and on the right side, vertically placed, the face value in letters „DOUÃ SUTE LEI”, the issuing date “1 decembrie 2006” and denomination in figures “200”.
On the reverse of the banknote the graphic composition consists of the image of the small Neolithic statue of the Thinker of Hamangia, a rainbow, an old
water mill and behind the mill, a sessile oak. The reverse of the banknote also consists of the face value in figures and in letters, the name of the issuing
central bank BANCA NAÞIONALÃ A ROMÂNIEI, the NBR’s logo placed
in the upper right side, the sign for visually-impaired with the NBR’s logo in the
left down side within a rectangle, the text „FALSIFICAREA ACESTOR BILETE SE PEDEPSEªTE CONFORM LEGILOR“, (“FORGERY IS PUNISHED ACCORDING TO THE LAW”), the serial number in black ink, same size fonts, vertically on the left side and in red ink and increasing fonts, horizontally, on the upper right side.
The philatelic issue is represented by two postage stamps, each postage stamp with the face value of RON 0.50 and RON 1.20 which present the graphic elements on the obverse and reverse side of the Lei 200 Banknote.
