On the occasion of a special philatelic event organized in Romania, Specialized World Stamp Exhibition EFIRO 2024, (hosted by the National Library) between April 16 – 19, this year, Romfilatelia will introduce into circulation, on Tuesday, April 16th this year, an issue entitled Specialized World Stamp Exhibition EFIRO 2024, composed of three postage stamps, a perforated souvenir sheet, a First Day Cover and a special philatelic folder marking the sixth edition of this philatelic event. Several events in the field of national history, postal services and philately history are presented in the graphic design of the three postage stamps and the perforated souvenir sheet.
The postage stamp with the face value of Lei 4 reflects the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union, Romania being among the founders, under the signature of George Lahovari. The graphic design presents a fragment-image of the statuary group of the UPU in Bern and the Romanian stamp issued on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Union (1949).
The postage stamp with the face value of Lei 6 is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the printing of the first revenue stamps at the Bucharest Stamp Factory in 1874. The graphic design shows the images of three revenue stamps and a manual printing press, used in that time.
The postage stamp with the face value of Lei 22 is dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the Union of the Romanian Principalities and reproduces the first three stamps of the Principalities issued in 1862, in which the coats of arms of Moldavia and Romania are presented together.
The philatelic souvenir sheet, whose postage stamp has a face value of Lei 33, reproduces the image of a postcard in which King Carol II and a famous philatelist, Heinrich Birnbach, appear as characters in front of an exhibit of the Stamp Exhibition EFIRO 1932.
The First Day Cover of the issue features a reproduction of the EFIRO 2024 logo and an image that reproduces a fragment of the statuary group of the UPU, in Bern, with elements of a map belonging to the Romanian Principalities as a background.
Romfilatelia wishes success to all the organizers of the Exhibition EFIRO 2024, hosted in the space of an emblematic cultural edifice, the National Library of Romania.
The philatelic issue is available starting from today, April 16th 2024, in Romfilatelia’s shops network in Bucharest, Bacău, Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Timișoara and online on https://romfilatelia.ro/store/.
