Romfilatelia, the only authority appointed by the Romanian Government to issue Romanian postage stamps, has launched the unique collection of 15 NFTs entitled “A World in a Stamp”.
The event took place at the Palace of Parliament, within the “Critical Infrastructure Protection Forum”, and was organised by the National Institute for Research and Development in Computer Science – ICI Bucharest Romania, which launched ICI D|SERVICES.
The collection of Romfilatelia NFTs, catalogued as Rarities, joined the other five collections launched by institutional partners the AGERPRES National Press Agency, the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, the “Carol I” Central University Library and ICI Bucharest, as well as the Romanian sportsman David Popovici.
According to ICI General Manager, Adrian Victor Vevera, the moderator of the event, the platform is a space where public institutions and others can have the security and comfort to trade and propose models to promote, as well as a future source of revenue.
“The postage stamp has become an instrument of advance payment for postal services, but also a means of celebrating and promoting national heritage. In Romania, the first issue of postage stamps appeared in 1858 under the name ”Cap de bour” (Bull Head) and had a strong impact on the development of philately in our country. Today, the postage stamp is one of the national symbols and has multiple functions, such as promoting the image of the country, universal education, environmental protection. (…) This collection celebrates the history of Romanian postage stamps and includes a range of rare philatelic issues, many of them only now accessible to the general public”, detailed Ciprian Iacob, ICI D|SERVICES representative.
“These NFTs have a story behind them, which also calls for education, because the stamp is also a means of universal education, it is a true ambassador of the image of great athletes, great artists, important events, it is an instrument of public diplomacy, but at the same time it also represents the sovereignty of the country. It is a symbol of the country, and what we have tried in these 15 pieces is a story that will continue,” said Romfilatelia’s CEO.
Romfilatelia expresses its thanks to the ICI Bucharest team for the beautiful collaboration and the initiation of this first project, which resulted in a valuable collection of NFTs.
