The 16th edition of the “Mihai Eminescu” International Literary Festival took place between June 15th and 16th, 2023, at the Acad. Eugen Simion Cultural Centre, in Dumbrăveni, Suceava, a cultural event with tradition, which brought together extremely valuable and beloved people, both nationally and internationally, who spoke with great affection about Mihai Eminescu, but also about Dumbrăveni. The event, organized by Dumbrăveni Town Hall, in partnership with the Romanian Academy and the Acad. Eugen Simion Cultural Centre, moderated by Mayor Ioan Pavăl, transformed Dumbrăveni into a true capital of culture. The special philatelic album made by Romfilatelia and entitled “Mihai Eminescu and Bessarabia in the poet’s vision” was launched, in the preface of which, Ioan-Aurel Pop, President of the Romanian Academy, confesses: “For Bessarabia the poet had the great pain in his soul and for Bessarabia he wept in lonely long evenings”. On this occasion, a special philatelic folder was also launched, dedicated, as a token of appreciation for his entire career in the service of universal science, to the renowned Israeli neurologist, of Roman origin, Professor Jean-Jacques Askenazy, honorary member of the Romanian Academy. The joy and honour of celebrating the great national poet was marked by the presence of Acad. Maya Simionescu, President of the Section of Biological Sciences of the Romanian Academy, Acad. Mircea Martin, Acad. Mihai Cimpoi, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, Prof. Ioan Cristescu, PhD, General Manager of the National Museum of Romanian Literature, Pavel Șușară, member of the Union of Artists and member of the National Philatelic Commission, Cristian Anița, PhD, Director of the National Archives of Romania, guests of the local administration of Chișinău, of the cultural field, mass media. On this occasion, the mayor of Dumbrăveni awarded Diplomas to personalities or institutions for their contribution to the promotion of national values, cultural elites. The event was completed by touching artistic moments offered by Damian Drăghici and his band, as well as Rareș Prisăcariu, winner of the contest “Romanians have talent 2023”. Romfilatelia, as a promoter of national values, will continue the series of philatelic projects dedicated to the “unequalled national poet”, Mihai Eminescu, as a sign of respect, love and remembrance for the “Luceafărul neamului românesc” (”The evening star of the Romanian nation”).
