Romfilatelia, in partnership with Dumbrăveni Town Hall, paid tribute to the Romanian poet Grigore Vieru during the national festival “Letter to Grigore Vieru” in the Pererîta village, Briceni district, Republic of Moldova.
The event took place on February 13th, 2022, on the eve of the birthday of the great poet who would have turned 88 this year.
Poets, friends, mayors, deputies and guests from Romania attended the event, reminiscing, reciting poems and humming songs performed to the lyrics of the poet Grigore Vieru.
A special moment has been the launch of the anniversary philatelic folder, created by Romfilatelia.
Ioan Pavăl, Mayor of Dumbrăveni commune, Suceava county, stated, movingly, in his speech:
“We did our best to remind people who and what Grigore Vieru did. I am moved by the poem ‘Mother’. It’s the most beautiful poem I have ever heard about mother.”
The poet’s ideal, expressed in the phrase “If some dream of reaching the cosmos, I have always dreamed of crossing the Prut”, has materialized, metaphorically, through the postal stationery dedicated to the poet, who has been crossing the Prut since 2020, through the correspondence sent to and from Romania.
Romfilatelia will continue, as a duty of honour, its mission as a promoter of the values of the Romanian nation, and the postage stamp, true ambassador and silent witness of cultural and historical events, will write the story.
Respect and gratefulness, Mister Grigore Vieru!
