The Constitutional Court of Romania celebrated the Centenary of the Constitution of Unified Romania (1923 – 2023) during a solemn Assembly held on Monday, the 27th of March at the Palace of Parliament.
The solemn assembly opened the series of events organized by the Constitutional Court during the year 2023, which was declared by the plenary session of the CCR on the 18th of January this year the “Centenary of the Constitution of Unified Romania”.
In a solemn atmosphere, full of emotion, the CEO of Romfilatelia thanked the President of the Constitutional Court, Mr. Marian Enache and the judges of the Constitutional Court, for their support and effort in the production of the postage stamps issue “Centenary of the Constitution of Unified Romania”, a stamp, a state insignia, honouring this historic moment.
At the end of his speech, the CEO of Romfilatelia invited His Excellency Klaus Werner Iohannis, President of Romania, and the President of the Constitutional Court of Romania, Marian Enache, to stamp the “First Day Cover” of the issue, thus marking the official moment of the introduction into circulation of the postage stamps issue, and to unveil and sign the anniversary philatelic panel.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the interim President of the Senate, Alina Gorghiu, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, the Prime Minister of the Romanian Government, Nicolae Ciucă, Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Claire Bazy-Malaurie, President of the Venice Commission for Democracy through Law, Mamadou Badio Camara, President of the Association of Francophone Constitutional Courts, Domnica Manole, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova.
The judges of the Plenary of the Constitutional Court of Romania were invited to complete the ceremonial moment by signing the centenary thematic panel, as follows: Livia-Doina Stanciu, Varga Attila, Elena-Simina Tănăsescu, Cristian Deliorga, Gheorghe Stan, Mihaela Ciochină, Laura-Iuliana Scântei and Dimitrie-Bogdan Licu, to mark the importance of this historic day, a true invitation to remembrance.
The event was attended by presidents and judges of other European constitutional courts, former presidents and judges of the Constitutional Court of Romania, representatives of the Parliament, members of the Government, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest and academics.
Romfilatelia thanks for the special contribution of the President of the Constitutional Court, initiator of a joint project to produce a valuable historical-philatelic tribute album dedicated to one of the most representative and democratic Constitutions in Europe at that time.
