BUCHAREST, FEBRUARY 2, 2022
Romfilatelia, an active presence in the actions to highlight this historical status, introduced into circulation, in 2005, the issue of postage stamps announcing to the whole world that Romania had signed the Treaty of Accession to the European Union.
The 2007 “Romania in the European Union” and 2017 “10 years Romania in the European Union” issues have been added to the thematic postage stamps. To these we add the anniversary postal stationery for “15 years Romania in the EU”.
After the Joint Solemn Meeting of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, on February 2nd, 2022, a homage ceremony took place in the Hall in front of the Plenary Hall, in the presence of the special guest, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and of the President of the Senate, Florin Cîțu, and of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, respectively, with the presentation of the philatelic panel dedicated to this event, unveiled and signed by the officials present.
We hope that it will remain an archival document of Romania’s modern history and a gift of Romfilatelia to prove our commitment to reflect and popularize worldwide an event recorded in the history of the country and Europe.
The Parliament also hosted an exhibition including images from the Agerpres National Press Agency archive. The photos capture images from the signing of the Treaty of Accession of Romania to the European Union, the celebration of our country’s accession or the New Year’s Eve of Integration in University Square.
Romfilatelia thanks the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their support and advice in the creation of the postage stamps. This event took place in compliance with the rules of social distancing and other preventive measures during the Covid-19 pandemic.
