ZODIAC (II)

Print

The true and concrete world is the only one presenting interest for a rational mind. In this context, the presence of astrology becomes hard to integrate in our scientific thinking.

Scientists are overwhelmed only in front of the instruments and machines, neglecting the human being’s unexpected capacities, confining themselves at evaluating the limits of the human intellect and excluding the limits of the cosmic intellect.

Should be said that Astrology is on the list of cognitive sciences using a coherent operational pattern. But it must not be asked of it more than it may offer, since nothing is above God’s will and plans.

Practically, there is no field of human experiences which astrology may not be applied to. But astrology is not really a way of foreseeing future.

Individual Astrology, consisting of Native, Karmic and Predictive Astrology, may transmit that at a certain moment more than at another, the subject is vulnerable in a certain aspect of his life (health, behavior, feelings etc.) or that the sum of the positive influences considerably increases the probability of success.

All these are defined for each of the zodiacal signs among which we may find those representing the topic of the postage stamps issue that Romfilatelia introduces into circulation, entitled Zodiac (II) and which completes the series of the 12 signs, through the presentation of the six last ones.

Libra sign, illustrated on the postage stamp with the face value of 0.50 lei, represents a Masculine Cardinal Air Sign having copper as metal, yellow as its subtle colour, the diamond or opal as its precious stone and the verb “to balance” as its characteristic verb. It symbolizes justice, harmony, as well as dualism and instability.

Scorpio sign, illustrated on the postage stamp with the face value of 0.60 lei, represents a Feminine Fixed Water Sign having iron as metal, red as its subtle colour, topaz, malachite or garnet as its precious stone and the verb “to wish” as its characteristic verb. It is the sign of death and destruction in order to get purified by fire and to rebirth from one’s own ashes.

Sagittarius sign, illustrated on the postage stamp with the face value of 0.80 lei, represents a Masculine Mutable Fire Sign having tin as metal, light blue as its subtle colour, turquoise or garnet as its precious stone and the verb “to understand” as its characteristic verb.

Capricornus sign, illustrated on the postage stamp with the face value of 3.00 lei, represents a Feminine Cardinal Earth Sign having lead as metal, indigo as its subtle colour, white onyx as its precious stone and the verb “to use” as its characteristic verb. It represents the old age, the ascesis and the wisdom.

Aquarius sign, illustrated on the postage stamp with the face value of 6.00 lei, represents a Masculine Fixed Air Sign having lead or uranium as metal, dark blue as its subtle colour, sapphire or opal as its precious stone and the verb “to know” as its characteristic verb. It symbolizes fraternity, humanism, progress, freedom and originality.

Pisces sign, illustrated on the postage stamp with the face value of 8.10 lei, represents a Feminine Mutable Water Sign having tin as metal, light blue as its subtle colour, chrysolite or sapphire as its precious stone and the verb “to believe” as its characteristic verb. It symbolizes mysticism, religion, devotion and sacrifice.

The drawings, whose images are reproduced on the stamps of the issue and on the original thematic engraving – a genuine philatelic testament – printed in limited run printing, bearing the holograph signature of the author, belong to the much regretted artist and engraver Octavian Ion Penda.

Belonging to the world’s engravers elite of late 20th century and beginning of the 21st century, Octavian Ion Penda remains in the Pantheon of the great artists as a personality with a defined originality of symbolism of his entire work.
